Best Fits at The Players, TPC Sawgrass- Day 1

As Round 1 comes to a close it is pretty clear this golf course is playing difficult. But the names near the top of the leaderboard are exactly the kind of experienced players you would expect to handle it.

Maverick McNealy sits near the top of the clubhouse at 5 under, continuing to show why he is one of the most consistent players in all of golf. Justin Thomas is right behind him at 4 under, and the story there is hard to ignore. JT missed the cut last week at the Arnold Palmer with back to back high 70 rounds he called humiliating. He responded today with what is one of the best rounds of his career at TPC Sawgrass. That is the kind of bounce back that reminds you why this guy has a major on his resume.

The bigger storyline on the day though is the injury bug hitting two of the biggest names in the field. Morikawa withdrew after just one hole after tweaking his back on a practice swing, and Rory spent most of the morning as a game time decision before eventually teeing it up this afternoon following a weather delay. The back issues we flagged heading into this week are very real.

But who had the best fit on a cold, windy, and rainy Day 1 at Sawgrass?

Tommy Fleetwood:

The guy just has pure swag lately after becoming a free agent. Combining Lululemon, Nike, and Johnnie-O is a chef's kiss. The oversized fit paired with the gold sole Nikes is something to behold.

My only requirement of this man, please sign with FootJoy. A pair of Traditionalists on his feet would be as clean as it gets.

Jason Day

Jason Day continues to bring the heat with Malbon. Round 1 consisted of what I believe to be the following:

Malbon La Perla Pant in the Cream Color way

The Fairway Polo in white (not 100% since we didn't get a great view in the rain)

Sun Visor : We are not sure who makes this but usually MOTIVE slaps their logo on it. If you are bold enough to pull it off, I say go for it.

Shoes: I am not for sure, but I think he could be wearing Malbon Hike Shoe
I am going to include another angle down below here, but the sole and side profile look thicc.

I wonder if those soles are comfy?

Tony Finau

The guy is always going to bring something special out for these bigger events. He recently made a comment that is wife is actually the one who picks his outfits.

For Thursday, she picked something special.

Top: Tony is rocking the Nike Jordan Sport Strip AOP Golf . Seems like the brand is really getting inspired by 90's golf.

Belt: I believe this is a Mizzen Main in the Medium Brown

Pants: Your guess is as good as mine. I am assuming they are Jordan and back in 05/06 they did a baggy golf slack collection almost like what Michael himself would pull up to the arena in.

Shoes: Air Jordan 1 Low G. It also appears if you zoom in he has a player exclusive purple sole. Pure class.

Justin Thomas

JT has been known to rock some crazy fits over the years. He is one of the newer tour players to become a free agent after spending the last 2.5 years as a Greyson athlete.

Based on what he has been seen in lately, my guess on the rose pants is either Lululemon ABC or a Nike product. I lean more toward Lululemon since Nike usually has a more visible logo on their bottoms.

Belt appears to be Peter Millar which speaks for itself.

As always he is wearing a pair of my favorite FootJoys, and as a sucker for that clean and classic look, I have absolutely no complaints.
