Danny Maude Distance - Youtube Rabbit Hole

Today when I was way deep down the rabbit hole something struck me. I started watching all these videos promising massive distance gains. Which if you really think about it is kind of insane. The 78-year-old guy you get paired with shoots 75 every day and doesn't drive it more than 150 yards. But sure, as a 35-year-old who already hits it 260, you apparently need way more distance lol.

This one video in particular had 4.6 million views. The format is pretty interesting. Danny is giving an older gentleman a live lesson right there on the course.

First things first, this student is the funniest and most bought-in guy on planet earth. If Danny asked him to swing cross-handed, this guy would head straight to the pro shop for a new handed glove. By the way, on a side note, the guy himself is the first comment, and he flew all the way to the UK for this lesson, which supposedly was the magic pill that fixed his game... hmm.

Danny starts by giving this guy a swinging drill in his fingers. I've never seen this before and I never want to see it again. He also tells the guy to cock the wrists as much as possible to get more speed. (If you're already deep down the rabbit hole, probably best to just throw that comment out.)

Danny explains that gaining speed is about accepting you're going to hit it bad for a while in exchange for learning to move your body in this new way. I get it for the 80-year-old guys, I guess, but for every 25-year-old, I am OUT. Even the poor student rips this massive hook. Danny is fired up because clubhead speed is barely higher, but carry went through the roof. Well of course that top-spin hook carried longer than his first 99-yard driver, but man, a ton of other problems are being created here.

Side note: He has his wife with him videoing everything and it's absolutely hilarious.

This entire video is just Danny telling this poor guy to swing hard. So, is this a rabbit hole you should go down? Hell no. If you watch this too many times you're gonna be trying to swing like Kyle Berkshire and look like Bobby Fairways. With 4.6 million views, there are a lot of people out there trying to whip it. I do recommend however watching this video just to hear the student say "WOWZAA."
